Typography: one of the most important building blocks in graphic design that helps in visually communicating business values, creating hierarchy and clarity and converting your desired target audience. Also one of the hardest skills to master as a graphic designer. This list will hopefully make for a less stressful design process when it comes to creating, choosing, tweaking, organizing and identifying type.

1. Archetype

A simple to use tool that helps you make beautiful font combinations, tweak their sizing relationship and spacing and export the results as CSS or as a Sketch file.

2. Wordmark.it

This one is a HYUUUGE™ time saver and will make you wonder how on Earth could you get along without it. Displays your written word/phrase with all the fonts which are already installed on your computer.

3. What Font

A Google Chrome Extension that lets you identify fonts used in a web page in real time. Extremely handy tool, does exactly what it should in a single click.

4. What The Font

This one helps out in situations when you only have a raster image of the font you’d like to identify, or find similar fonts to it.

5. Canva Font Combinations

Select a font of your choice and the tool will match it with several aesthetically compatible font pairings accompanied with real-life usage examples.

6. FontStruct

A simple and convenient tool to build/share/download your own unique fonts, using a grid system and geometrical shapes.

7. Prototypo

This one takes a different approach at building your font by letting you start with a default font, tweak the typeface parameters and see glyph changes in real time. You can modify parameters both on a single glyph and a group of glyphs.

8. Tiff

Use this tool to compare two fonts letter by letter and see their subtle differences. Supports both Google Web Fonts and your system fonts.

9. Kern Type

This one is a game for typography nerds, but it definitely helps in forming a habit to be more conscious about kerning (the spacing between characters in a font). Your goal is to achieve the most balanced kerning possible by grabbing each letter individually, except for the first and the last letter.

10. Typewar

Another addictive typography game, it challenges you to guess the font by presenting you with two font choices.
